Meet Amanda Ray, Senior Technical Consultant at Diversus. Amanda knows that working in the Information Technology industry was the right career path for her.

After completing her studies, Amanda caught the travel bug and was lucky enough to visit several destinations around the world. Her favourites being Scandinavia, Finland, and seeing the northern lights.

Upon returning and after a few various IT developer roles, she secured the role as a Developer at Diversus.

10 years later, Amanda has worked on large-scale projects, including Department of Finance, WALGA, North Metropolitan TAFE, and MDA National.

“Working in IT is extremely rewarding. I love to work on my own and in teams and I find it rewarding when I receive positive feedback from team members and clients,” Amanda said.

“There are so many opportunities and options available to work in varied areas of IT. You just need to figure out which areas will motivate you to achieve your goals, and which suit your personality," she said.

“I also think it is amazing to see how far Diversus and the Directors have come with building such a positive work environment for so many people."

In 2012, Amanda left Diversus to take on her most challenging role, becoming a Mum. Amanda returned to Diversus part time at various times between parental leave.

Amanda says one of her biggest achievements is keeping well organised in all aspects of her life while juggling part time work and small children, including twins!

Amanda believes her achievements have been possible because of the support she has received from the Directors and her colleagues.

“We need to think creatively, and enable women who have been out of the workforce while raising small children, to return to the workforce in ways that suit them,” she said.

“If you're working from home or working part time, we need to ensure that women proceed in their careers equally and are represented in the workforce at all stages of their life.”
